Ashtanga is an ancient form of yoga that was developed in 1948 by its founder K. Pattabhi Jois.

This challenging style of yoga is dynamic and powerful. There are 4 elements to this style of yoga and the flow is the same each time beginning with warmups of Sun salutation letter A, Sun salutation letter B, standing and balancing series, and seated and finishing series.  This type of yoga benefits all yogis from beginner to the experienced. Breath is the focus as this style of yoga practice emphasizes breath, movement, and gaze.

Bio:

I am Sophia Beydoun and I completed my 200-hour YTT certification in May 2023.  I am a novice teacher who wants to share the love of yoga with others; especially Ashtanga. I have been practicing yoga since June 2021 and I practice yoga daily, sometimes twice or more a day. I am committed to the practice of yoga, and I hope to begin teaching Ashtanga at Wayne County Community College District in the Van Buren Township Campus in their community yoga program this summer. I am honored and thrilled to guide you in Ashtanga yoga practice on Spring Yoga Day!!!
