Lecture form our Feb 5th Member Mtg

Member Usha Shah gave us information about Acidity/GERD, its symptoms, and why it happens. She talked about ways to address these issues with yoga, mudra’s, and acupressure points.  Really a excellent presentation.
Usha recorded the session and posted the link to it on her FB page at shashaholisticwellness.

Introducing our newest studio member

Namaste Owner, Ken Aubuchon

The Studio
Located at 309 S Troy St. Royal Oak,MI.48067 and committed to providing Yoga that is all-inclusive.

Namaste has been the heart of Royal Oak for over 20 years.  You do not have to be thin or flexible to practice. The poses meet you where you are, no matter where you are. You are your own guru, meaning you adapt the poses to your body. You don’t struggle to meet them; they rise to meet you. You affect a balance of comfort and strength, steadiness and ease. It doesn’t matter who you are, how you’re shaped, or your level of fitness. Yoga is an individualized practice, that you will tailor perfectly to fit you. As you change, yoga will continue to meet you where you are.  https://namaste-yoga.net

Yoga Down River

I recieved a email about available space below:

Hello, I was inquiring if there were any instructors who might need space for their classes / practice in the downriver area? I have an indoor facility that would be great for a yoga class. We have 14000 sq ft.

Thank you

Scot Murdoch

Update from Studio Member Chela Yoga

Chela Yoga LLC was established in 2011 as a RYS200 yoga school. Like many the Covid pandemic had a big impact on the brick and mortar space, causing Chela to close its physical doors in July of 2020. Chela took to zoom to bring Yoga into the homes and offices of its students where they were able to offer 10 plus classes weekly online over the last 18 months. Marlo Ziegler ERYT500, Owner of Chela Yoga, has been teaching traditional Yoga since 2003.

With her vast knowledge of different styles of Yoga and healing modalities, she is excited to announce that this September 2021 Chela Yoga LLC will reopen its physical doors in a new location just a mile from its previous home. New location is 72 N. Williams Lk Rd, Waterford 48327. Chela will offer a hybrid of online/in-person classes specializing in a variety of styles from your fast passed more physical styles like Hatha, Vinyasa to slower based therapeutic yoga styles such as yoga for chronic pain, recovery, aging bodies, beginners basics, introduction to props, yin, restorative, mindfulness and  meditation.

Chela will also be offering a hybrid online/in-person Yoga Alliance accredited RYT200 Yoga Teacher Training starting this Sept. This is a 15 week course that dives deeply into the philosophy of yoga starting with the Yamas and Niyamas.

For more information check out www.chela-yoga.com or call Marlo at (248)860-6681

*YAGD current members receive 15% off this September RYT200 Yoga Teacher Training.

Member Hugh Ross

Lifetime member Hugh is not doing so well and we think it would be a great idea for anyone who remembers him or knows him to send him a card of encouragement. Hugh suffers form Alzheimers but I’m sure the hand written cards would be most appreciated. Please go the the Membership tab>Directory and look up Hugh’s address. Kind thoughts to all. Char V

This is our holiday celebration and the time when we recognize member contributions to YAGD and welcome our new volunteers. We held our holiday meeting via ZOOM today. Members wore festive clothes (and socks) and brought something to munch on.  Lynn presented certificates of appreciation to board members and committee chairs who have contributed their energy and time to YAGD during 2020.  It was great to see all who attended. We had fun conversations, reconnected and discussed our exciting future.

We had a total of 19 attendees who popped in and out. Here is the one picture I took in which most were looking at the camera and smiling …haha.

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful suggestions, devotion to YAGD and holiday cheer. Char V vice president.
