Saying farewell to our friends at Yoga By Design Foundation

See below for a message from our friends at Yoga By Design Foundation.

Dear YBDF Friends and Supporters,

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we write to inform you that the Yoga by Design Foundation will cease operations in mid-2022.  After deep and mindful consideration, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to dissolve our beloved foundation, an action not taken lightly but deemed necessary in light of our financial situation.

Founded in 2011, Yoga By Design Foundation has brought the healing practices of Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation to hundreds who were in need. With your support, an amazing group of dedicated, highly trained yoga instructors in Michigan have planted the seeds of hope and peace throughout many under-resourced and under-served local communities.  Yoga is a journey, not a destination.  We may never experience the fruits of the work that has been done, but we know that YBDF has made a difference in their lives.

With funds raised at our 2021 Yogathon, as well as recent grants and donations, we are pleased to be able to continue our programs through June of 2022. We are no longer accepting donations but assure you that all previous monies donated will be used in the service of our mission.

Sending love and light this holiday season,
Lynn Medow, President Emeritus & Founder
Sarah Williams, Executive Director & President

Namaste Yoga Studio Has Big News

Hi Namaste Yoga Royal Oak Family,
After 24+ years at 309 Troy Street, Namaste Yoga will have a new Royal Oak address July 1.
This decision did not come lightly nor quickly, in the past two years we have all been encouraged to discard things that no longer serve us and nurture the parts that make us stronger.  Moving locations is a product of that process. Among our considerations included a significant rent increase in July 2021, ongoing maintenance issues in the studio, downtown Royal Oak construction and parking challenges, and the emerging street closings that have started since Centennial Park was built.
In addition to these issues we have no control over, we are excited to be able to grow to meet the needs of those who find Namaste. Our Hatha focus creates a welcoming and accessible environment to all who enter our doors. The new studio space will allow for an expansion of Yoga Therapy offerings, Reiki, workshops, meditation, and events as we have space that is not dedicated to just studio classes. We are also committed to keeping the sense of comfort many of you have found in the warm glow of the studio space throughout the years.
Many of your questions might be answered here, and we want to make sure that this move happens with as little disruption as possible. This page will be updated regularly on our website.
We look forward to the next 24 years serving the Namaste community.
