September 11-13, 2026
Yoga Association of Greater Detroit Annual Retreat Reservation
Lake Huron Retreat Center 8794 Lakeshore Road, Burtchville Township, MI 48059
Please join us for this annual event, scheduled once again at the gorgeous Lake Huron Retreat Center, located about 15 miles north of Port Huron. The weekend will include several yoga classes, the opportunity to walk on the beach, rest, read, etc. As always, all retreat activities are optional, so especially plan to relax.
The weekend includes 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) and 4 meals (3 on Saturday plus Sunday breakfast). YAGD subsidies the fees for active members (those who attended at least 3 meetings or events last year) whose dues have been paid.
Members (and guests sharing their rooms) have priority through August for registration or to be put on the waiting list. Starting August 1st, non-members may reserve any available rooms but there are only a few rooms remaining. There is the room share option, so call somebody, why not have a little more positive energy around? Also, one day attendance only Saturday ($60) is also a great option. Please note-FINAL FULL PAYMENTS are due by August 15, 1 month prior to the start of the retreat, so why not pay now and beat the rush! The retreat is open to non-members, not sharing a room with a member.
So book your room today if you think you may be able to join us. We’d love to see you.
We are happy to announce that Physical Therapist Sherry McLauglin will be our keynote presenter this year!! 😊
The tentative agenda for her session is: Understanding human body design and kinesiology lies at the core of a successful movement program. Come and enjoy this interactive session of movement evaluation and correction with Sherry McLaughlin, MSPT.
Using principles of yoga stretching with biomechanics, the participant will walk away with methods to evaluate and correct the most common movement deviations and help others live a pain-free life. All that is required is your mind, your body, low ego and a high sense of curiosity.
Morning Session – Laying the Foundation
1. The Five Key Facts About Your Body’s Design
2. The 10-Step Mirror Check
3. The Six Quadrants of Movement
Afternoon Session – Finding the Missing Link to Pain-Free Movement
1. Core Testing (It’s not just about the abs)
2. Fixing the FABER (Restoring hip rotation, the hub of pain-free squatting and lunging)
3. Fixing Arm Elevation (Hint: it’s not usually the shoulder’s fault)
Feel free to bring your own fun, join in an organized activity or do nothing at all or just enjoy the views, meditate and relax. Register soon.
