Name & Hometown: Lisa Ball, Clawson, MI.
Who or What inspired you to be a Yoga Instructor ? I discovered yoga at an all-natural play space and wellness center for new families. This space brought great joy into my life as a new mother, and inspired me to become a yoga instructor. I will forever cherish the connections that I made there through the support groups offered to new moms, and their Yoga, Mommy & Me classes. The offerings helped me through a difficult period in my life and inspired me to help others through the practice of yoga.
Describe your style of yoga: Gentle Meditative Slow Flow.
What’s your favorite yoga pose ? Through my practice, I have found that I enjoy poses that release built up emotion and inner tension. With that said, Pigeon pose is my favorite.
What brings you to the mat ? The opportunity to learn more about myself through meditation and the physical practice of yoga.
If you teach, where ? I am actively working on my yoga sequences and plan to teach virtually and in person this year.
How has being a member of YAGD helped you in your yoga career ? I am a new member and have enjoyed the meetings and connecting with fellow yoga teachers.
Do you have a favorite yoga story from your teaching experience ? Not at this time, as I am a newly certified yoga teacher.
Is there anything else you would like to add ? I enjoy sharing my talents and knowledge with others freely, and, serve the community I work in as a Social Worker Outreach Coordinator at a community & senior center located in Oakland County. Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, Matthew of 20 years, and with my 11-year-old son, Owen. Other interests and hobbies are learning new computer software, dabbling in videography, and listening to The Moth Radio Hour on NPR.
