Dorothy Schauerte

My name is Dorothy Schauerte.  I am an Advanced Practice Nurse who began taking Anusara yoga classes in 2003. I attended numerous weekend workshops from various teachers including Doug Keller and Arthur Kilmurray. I did yoga weekly but I was slow to appreciate yoga’s depths.

While working for a Neurosurgeon managing pain for back patients, I took a week-long workshop in Seattle called The Essential Low Back Program with Robin Rothenberg. I learned a lot about yoga and I realized that I needed to take yoga teacher training in order to utilize the back pain class. I finished yoga teacher training in 2015. I taught yoga at Yoga Oasis in Clarkston MI. where I became involved with Heartfulness Meditation.

Heartfulness Meditation has been very beneficial for me.  We meditate on our Heart, which is the Center within each of us.  We meet in person on Sunday mornings at 9:00am, in case this appeals to you, PLUS, most cell phones have an App for Heartfulness Meditation.

Nancy Lopez and I began teaching Gentle Yoga 3 times a week on zoom and outdoors when possible since Yoga Oasis closed during the pandemic.  We both grew as yoga teachers and had fun. We teach Hatha yoga on the mat, wall and chair. We focus on giving clear instructions so that beginning level students can join. We emphasize alignment, breath, balance, strength, kinesthetics and joy.

We teach gentle yoga on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 am on Zoom.

Please call me, Dorothy Schauerte at 248.421.6609 for the ID and passcode to join a 40 minute Zoom class. When weather permits, we teach outdoors in Davisburg.   Classes are free, but Donations are appreciated, and can be processed by cash, check or Venmo.
