Diane Pesta

Name & Hometown: Diane Pesta, Holly, MI

Who or What inspired you to be a Yoga Instructor ? I was inspired to become a yoga instructor because I wanted to share the benefits of yoga with anyone that would listen.

Describe your style of yoga: I have a variety of styles, including YIN, hot yoga, Hatha, Vinyasa, and restorative. No matter the style I teach, my students safety and enjoyment is my top priority.

What’s your favorite yoga pose ? How can I choose? It’s like asking who’s my favorite child, if I had kids that is. I suppose down dog, child’s pose, and most all warriors.

What brings you to the mat ? I need my sanity, yoga calms my mind and when I’m on the mat, my yoga is all that matters.

If you teach, where ? . Having just moved back a little over a year ago, I am only doing private classes out of my house for a few ladies. I would love to teach at a studio in my area, to share my love of yoga

How has being a member of YAGD helped you in your yoga career? I just joined so I’m looking forward to YAGD helping me in my yoga career.

Do you have a favorite yoga story from your teaching experience ? Always my favorite stories are the ones where students, especially the men and the younger females are always so amazing at what yoga does for them when they thought it was “just stretching”. And the class where I had students named Yong, Ping, and Tong, or the class where it was mostly petite blondes wearing all black and trying to get their names straight.

Is there anything else you would like to add, like family… hobbies… karma yoga… or other professions ? I am originally from MI, moved to IL, then NC, then TX for 24 years. I got divorced, met back up with a high school friend (now my fiancé) which prompted me to move back to MI about 1.5yrs ago. I have been teaching yoga for over 20 years, and I am also a Massage Therapist, for over 20 yrs as well. I am an animal lover, specifically dogs, even more specifically Greyhounds and Whippets. I volunteered in TX with the Greyhound Adoption League of TX for about 12 years. I fostered 30 greyhounds and volunteered wherever I was needed. I lost my Whippet, Annie, last year and really miss having a dog, so now I volunteer at Adopt-A-Pet in Fenton.

So, if you need a massage, a dog sitter, or a yoga instructor, look me up !  I’m very happy to be a part of YAGD and can’t wait to meet everyone.
