How has being a member of YAGD helped you in your yoga career? I have appreciated getting to know the members and learning from all of them. I have really enjoyed attending Yoga Day.

Do you have a favorite yoga story from your teaching experience ? I especially remember teaching at the homeless shelter in Detroit, and afterwards, one of the students sharing that it was the first time he felt relaxed in a very long time, and that he never really learned how to relax before. It warmed my heart.

Kyla (she/her) E- RYT 500, has been teaching yoga since 2001. She has been practicing herself since 1989, starting with yoga for stress reduction, at the suggestion of her Mom, and continued to practice because it has enriched her life immensely.

She is greatly influenced by Judith Lasater, Eric Schiffman, Linda Makowski, Jason Crandell, Marie Gagnon and Veronica Zador just to name a few masters she has studied with over the years. During yoga teacher training she developed a program for a homeless shelter and also designed a program for a correctional facility. Kyla is passionate about yoga and loves to share her knowledge and enthusiasm of yoga with others. Namaste is a beautiful studio and community to explore, and. to study yoga.

In February 2017, Kyla became certified in Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga, Level 1, and she is a 300-hour graduate of Beaumont School of Yoga Therapy.

Kyla was an IT professional with a BA in Business from Michigan State University, and recently retired as a project manager, so she’s enjoying teaching & taking more yoga ! She has been a member of the Yoga Association of Greater Detroit since 2001.

In addition to this, she has begun doing some volunteer work for an animal shelter, and a food bank.
